master kush

Type: Indica
Effect: Euphoric, Uplifting
Flowering time: 8-9 weeks
Yield: High

Originally known as “High Rise” in honour of its birthplace – the modernist tower blocks of Amsterdam’s Bijlmer neighbourhood – Master Kush is a potent Indica which is favoured by many commercial growers due to its high yield, short flowering time and heavy resin load. Unusually for such a potent plant it doesn’t have a strong odour, and as such it has always found favour with those who engage in stealth gardening. Nowadays, however, it is more prized for its smoothness of smoke, and tendency to flourish without the need for any great horticultural expertise.

Master Kush is a blend of Skunk and Hindu Kush, and when smoked the earthy flavour is strongly reminiscent of the hashes of the Afghan-Pakistan mountain areas. Its mellow, relaxing effect is ideal for stress reduction or alleviating insomnia, but it is renowned for being a slow build; often those who are unfamiliar with this particular Indica strain will smoke more than they need, unaware that the high is increasing to a quite incapacitating level – so take it easy! For those who suffer from chronic pain or inflammation, Master Kush is the perfect strain for reducing the severity of their symptoms and giving them some relief from discomfort.

This is a strain which will grow in almost any medium, either indoors or out. It isn’t an especially large plant, but the buds tend to be fat and heavy, with a THC content around the 15/20% mark. Because of their globular shape and density there is an ever-present danger of mould, so it is advised that it be cultivated in a dry environment if possible. That caveat aside, even a novice grower should be able to encourage Master Kush to produce a good harvest of attractive buds, and the reliability of the strain is one of its best attributes.
