super silver haze

Type: Sativa
Effect: Uplifting, Euphoric
Flowering time: 8-9 weeks
Yield: High

Super Silver Haze won first prize at the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1997, 1998 and 1999, so you can safely call this strain a classic. A mix of Skunk, Northern Lights and Haze, it’s a world-famous Sativa which never fails to impress; and if you’ve been in an Amsterdam coffee shop at any point this millennium, you’ll undoubtedly have sampled some of this great strain.

The flavour of Super Silver Haze is unique and unforgettable, a sort of spicy citrus fruit mash-up with hints of mossy skunk. This makes for a pleasant smoke, and the effects are equally enjoyable: the balance of head and body high is just right, giving a positive, clear buzz without too much grogginess. As a formidable appetite-stimulant, Super Silver Haze is recommended for use by those on chemotherapy or similarly appetite-suppressing treatment programs; and it also has a good reputation amongst those suffering from depression, for whom its uplifting high can be just sufficient to overcome anhedonia or anxiety. The effects are long-lasting but not disabling, making it ideal for daytime use.

Growers will need to invest in a lot of nutrients to get the best out of this strain, as it’s a hungry beast: but the rewards are worth every penny, since the yield is high and it can reach considerable heights. THC content is generally 15-20%, the plants are hardy, and resistance to mould is high. It grows well in a hydroponic set-up, but if you are lucky enough to live in a sunny climate Super Silver Haze can grow to enormous size outdoors in soil… which might well make you the envy of your neighbours!

It will need a fair amount of room for its root system, and it likes a pH level below 6.3, but otherwise Super Siver Haze shouldn’t be a tricky strain to grow well.
